Looking for Strength?

My women's only strength class, Lean Lifting, has made some impressive gains in the past three months. This class has changed the way women look at strength, and what it means to be strong. Driving by the gym seeing 4 to 5  women pushing a prowler, lunging with sandbags, or flipping a huge tire is damn impressive. Here is Amanda has to say about class:

I couldn't be more excited about the changes I am seeing from two months in Lean Lifting. I started crossfitting August 2010 and could barely lift the barbell. Over time I finally conquered the barbell and was adding weights to the bar. While I was happy about adding 5 lbs and 10 lbs here and there, I wasn't even close to being able to do a WOD at Rx weight. I wanted more. I wanted to truly be strong. Now I am doing lifts at a weight that when I step back and think about how much is on the bar...I am shocked and giddy all at the same time. In class we recently did SDL and I was lifting 165! Then even more recently we were doing power cleans and I was cleaning 100 pounds and then front squatting it! Far cry from a 45 lb barbell that used to make me fall over.

While this may be small potatoes to seasoned crossfitters, this is HUGE for 5'9" "skinny" girl who has never been in to lifting weights. I always told myself and everyone else I was a runner and not capable of being strong because I have such a small frame. I won't be saying that anymore! Lifting has made me feel empowered like I can do anything. I have done triathlons and thought they are no tougher than the hardest CrossFit WOD. And my new favorite life scenario is when a random male stranger thinks he is going to rescue me by lifting some heavy object for me, then realizes I've already picked it up and made it look effortless...in high heels no less! Ah yes, I do like being strong. Now if I could just conquer those darn double unders.

Amanda is a beautiful strong woman! I am so proud of her and cannot wait to see more!
July Classes start Tuesday with a 6am and a 9am option. Email me for more details: jencardella@crossfitcentral.com
