For the past eight days I have been in paradise! I flew out to Hawaii, the Big Island, for a week of fun with two of the best people I know...and their parents! JoEllen and Arun were kind enough to invite me on the tail end of their year endeavor of traveling around the world. I am picking them up from the airport tomorrow to officially welcome them into my Honda and the mainland of the U.S.
This trip couldn't have come at a better time. I was in desperate need of isolation with friends and no contact with the outside world. That is exactly what I got! We stayed on the southwest side of the Island, a little place called Manini Bay. Our house was a short step away from a beach park that I staked as my own while I was there.
Here's a little taste of my schedule:
530--630 wake up with Kona coffee and tropical birds/waves/sun
730- breakfast clean up and major swim suit decisions
830- on the beach catching some horizontal time with my book
1-4pm- kids and adult nap time
4-830pm- wine and dinner time
9- bed time- a possible big girl sleepover with Viv
Yeah, as you can see it was pretty rough. I took a hiatus from CrossFit, stress, Austin, and all aspects that would cause stress. It was unbelievable the amount of time I had to think about life in general, decisions I need to make, and make steps to have my life become my own. This trip was the best medicine I could have asked for.
Hawaii is a place to "check out." If you are not able to just relax and not talk to your online or social media world, don't go. Because you won't get what you need out of it. The place gives you what you need. But in order to take it you have to put everything else away. I was able to do that because of two great people's support, love, and undying loyalty. No matter what has happened they will behind me, and that is having friends in your thirties. Loving life right now.
